Preparation and Application of Sewage Sludge Bio-char/Zero Valent Iron (SSBC/ZVI) Composite for Improving the Biodegradability of a Real Chemical Synthesis-Based Pharmaceutical Wastewater

A new kind of micro-electrolysis filler sewage sludge biochar/zero valent iron (SSBC/ZVI) composite was prepared for a real chemical synthesis based pharmaceutical wastewater pretreatment improving the biodegradation index (BI). The optimal operation condition system obtained at HRT 2 h, initial pH 3.0 and dosage 100 g/L, with COD removal rate 30.5%. Characterization analysis raw/used SSBC/ZVI GC–MS raw/treated were conducted to reveal pollutant mechanisms by micro-electrolysis, results suggested that pollutants mainly attributed combination reduction oxidation, absorption SSBC flocculation sludge. exhibited relative high stability excellent reusability BI improvement after 4 runs. Moreover, leaching tests heavy metals (HMs) investigate their release constituents in SS, indicated HMs into liquid from low level. This study provided ideas utilization pretreatment.
